Otsego Public Schools is thrilled to offer the community free meals and a chance to keep reading throughout the summer! The schedule is now set for our Meet Up & Eat Up free meal sites and the Bulldogs Bookin’ Bus mobile library stops. “Both of these programs are incredibly beneficial to our students, families and community and we hope that people will take advantage of both of them to enjoy a meal and a book on us this summer,” says Jeffery Haase, Otsego Public Schools’ Superintendent.
Meet Up & Eat Up is a federal program that allows school districts to offer meals at no cost for students during the summer. This is a program Otsego has been able to provide for the last nine years. There’s no sign-up needed and no income requirements or guidelines; breakfast and lunch are free to any child 18 years of age and under, or persons up to age 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally, physically disabled that is recognized by a State or local public educational agency. Adults can purchase a meal for $5. All meals must be eaten on site.
