wax museum featuring "elvis"

Alamo 3rd graders focused on an influential person in our history for their biography unit and presented all they learned in this fun and unique way.

The "wax museum" days came after weeks of preparation. Students used books, videos and websites to learn all aspects of their chosen subject. They had to learn their biography of who they were, where they grew up, their family, etc., but then dig deeper to explore what they did to impact the world or their industry and the lasting impact it has had on our world, or how it changed the course of history.

Students chose a variety of famous influencers, from presidents to inventors, singers to athletes, and everything in between!

For the final part of the project, they wrote a full speech encompassing what they learned, dressed the part, then waited for visitors. Each student had a button marked on their hand; when someone came to learn more about their historical figure, they hit the button and the speech began. These students likely presented their speech dozens of times. Not only did their classmates visit, but parents and special guests also stopped by. What a special project to dive into those who have shaped the world around us!
