Alamo 5th graders launched into the year by engaging in a STEM challenge of building the tallest marshmallow tower. They were instructed to brainstorm an individual design, collaborate design elements, and execute the build as a team.
Through trial and error, 5th graders discovered the strengths and limitations of their materials. It was a great project for kids to get to know each other and work together. These activities take good teamwork and communication.
In the end, the winning tower came in at 9 and 3/4 inches!
