The Otsego Public Schools Foundation is giving our students and families a boost to start the year with a donation to each one of our buildings plus the summer food program.
"We wanted to do something district wide or building wide that would have more impact and reach more students than the staff/classroom Excellence in Education Grants we do every fall," explains Larry Collier, president of the OPS Foundation. (pictured with the OPS Director of Finance, Meredith Weathers.) "We asked each building where they would use a donation without listing any amounts. We discussed them as a Foundation and approved the final product."
Each of our elementary schools is receiving $2500 for reading and family engagement. The middle school is receiving $2500 for reading and 6th grade camp scholarships. The Foundation is donating $2500 to the high school for freshmen camp scholarships. Our Learn 'n Grow Early Childhood Education Center is receiving $728 for a Sprouting Naturalist program and $700 is going to our summer food program for speakers and activities.
All money from the foundation comes from donations and is given back to staff, educational programs and students. If you'd like to donate to the Foundation, go to opsfoundation.org.
